Communications Toolkit for our Platinum Partners
This toolkit outlines ideas on how you can communicate your partnership with Chapter One on your own channels
Celebrate our partnership on social media!
We love seeing our corporate partners' posts about your motivations for partnering with Chapter One and the special moments your volunteers experience. Every post helps raise awareness of the work we do together and could inspire other organisations to join the movement!
The government's National Year of Reading 2026 recognises that we're facing a literacy crisis and aims to "inspire thousands of community reading champions" and "build a culture where reading is for everyone, everywhere."
As a Chapter One Platinum Partner, your organisation is helping reach children who need reading support the most, providing employees with meaningful volunteering opportunities, and demonstrating genuine social impact. We are very grateful to the commitment made by our Platinum Partners to our Online Reading Volunteers Programme.

📖 One Million Stories by 2030
Since 2018, Chapter One's volunteers have shared 433,500 stories with children who need extra reading support. One Million Stories by 2030 is our commitment to reach one million stories shared between our volunteers and children - a cumulative count that tracks, in real time, the collective impact of every session delivered since we began. Every 30-minute session generates around two stories. Add that up across every volunteer, every corporate partner, and every child, and the numbers begin to tell their own story.
We would love to help support you in tracking and celebrating your organisation’s contribution.
You can find out more about the campaign here, and resources with details about the campaign and ways you can get involved here.

[Insert company name] is proud to support literacy charity @Chapter One UK as a Platinum Partner this year. We are providing 100+ volunteers who will be spending 30 minutes a week reading online with 5-8 year-old children facing disadvantage across the UK.

** Throughout the academic year **
Our @Chapter One UK online reading volunteers are making incredible progress! We’re proud to be a Platinum Partner, providing 100+ volunteers who team ‘meet’ online with a child for 30 minutes a week, during the school day.
Did you know that reading for pleasure is the biggest indicator that a child will grow up to enjoy a happier and more successful life - more than their family circumstances, parental educational background or income? We're proud our colleagues are transforming children’s futures by inspiring a love for reading from an early age. Does your company want to make a difference too? ** End of the school year **
What an incredible year our @Chapter One UK volunteers have had! This year, colleagues have spent 30 minutes every week reading with a child online. The transformation they've witnessed in their pupils' reading confidence has been amazing. We're proud to have supported Chapter One as a Platinum Partner and helped build momentum in these children's reading journeys and to help build a culture where reading is for everyone, everywhere. Together with Chapter One, we're making sure every child has the literacy skills needed to thrive. chapterone.org.uk
** Evidence and Impact **
Literacy is vital for children’s life chances.
Most parents want more time to read with their children. Most working adults say they'd help, if their employer made it possible.
@Chapter One UK asked parents, primary school teachers and working adults across the UK how children read today.
The research found:
→ 86% of parents would like more time to read with their child
→ 87% of parents and 91% of teachers agree that regular reading with a trusted adult or reading volunteer would improve a child's confidence
→ 67% of working adults would volunteer to read with a child if their employer supported them
Businesses can help boost children’s literacy. We are proud to partner with @Chapter One UK, and to volunteer as part of their Online Reading Volunteers Programme. Our colleagues volunteer with pupils for 30 minutes each week, ensuring all children have equal opportunities to benefit from everything that reading brings and to thrive in life.
✏️ Suggested posts for our individual online reading volunteers
In addition to using your company social media channels to showcase our partnership, we would love you to encourage your employees who are volunteering for Chapter One to actively promote their involvement with the programme on their personal social media networks. They could post about the excitement of watching their student’s confidence soar, or reflect on how they themselves are benefiting from the experience. Many volunteers tell us that reading with Chapter One gives them 30 minutes when they can switch off from the pressures of the working day and enjoy a meaningful 1:1 human connection. You can find a full social media toolkit for volunteers here, as well as some suggested posts below.
If they are able to record short video testimonials or take selfies of themselves during a reading session then even better!

I just signed up as an online reading volunteer with @Chapter One UK! This academic year I’ll be spending 30 minutes a week reading online with a child who needs that extra support. 🌟 Other ways to highlight our partnership
📹 Video testimonials
We are always looking for video testimonials from our volunteers to share on Chapter One's social media channels! This would involve a volunteer recording themselves on their mobile phone for around a minute or so, talking about their experience of being a volunteer. If you, as a Volunteer Coordinator, would like to record a video from a corporate partner perspective, explaining why you chose to partner with Chapter One, that would also be fantastic! Video testimonials are a powerful tool for us, particularly on social media, so if you or any of your volunteers are interested, please let us know.
Here’s an example of a great video by one of our Liberty Global volunteers.

We’re always very happy to collaborate with our partners on press releases showcasing their commitment to Chapter One and the amazing support from their volunteers.
